Damp, and yet, not quite precipitating. Fairly warm, around 60°F at 10:52 am. By afternoon, the sun had started to break through the clouds. A bit windy with intermittent strong gusts. I took advantage of the warm spell and opened a few windows to let in some fresh air.

My Journey with Chronic Illness
Featured Image from Unsplash.com; Photo Credit: Annie Spratt Saturday, December 27, 2025 Another grey day, in a string of grey days, with nothing of significance to note. We have settled in to the rhythm of winter and so has Mother Nature. I say that, and then remember that the weather forecast for tomorrow is nothing of the sort. The daytime high is expected to be 70°F with a low of 25°F. Incredibly unseasonable weather for […]

Tuesday, December 23, 2025 Two days till Christmas! And the anticipation is building. I love this time of year! Today is overcast and dark, but no rain yet. We have mild temperatures for December, currently 52°F. Winter textures. Photo Credit: Amy Earls My orange slice experiment is not going so well. They just won’t dry. I think we cut them too thick. Trying another few rounds in the oven at 200°F. No real loss if […]
Continue readingWinter Solstice Time
This post is going to be a bit of a long one, so better get cozy. Maybe make a cup of tea or your favorite hot beverage. I am going to include my Instagram post from the solstice as well because I feel like it will have better readability here. December 20, 2025 Clear and cold. The ice pellets that melted have refrozen into little patches on the deck. Weak sunlight invites the cats outside […]

The wind is howling through the trees, causing their branches to sway wildly. The unseasonably warm (57°F) rain from yesterday has been replaced overnight by below freezing temperatures (26°F) and harsh winds. A smattering of ice pellets has been sprinkled about. I braved the cold and the wind to try to take a few photographs… I’m not sure it was worth it.
Continue readingChristmas in Cincinnati
If you’ve spent any amount of time in Cincinnati, I am sure you’ve heard of Krohn Conservatory. It’s a lovely place to visit, especially in the winter time. A warm tropical oasis of exotic plants nestled into the gardens of Eden Park. On this occasion I’ve come to see their annual holiday show, which always involves miniature trains, replica buildings, and copious amounts of poinsettias.

Friday, December 12, 2025 Snow overnight! Looks like we got about 1.5″. It stopped falling sometime after 7 am. Somehow its already begun to melt, even though its below freezing (30°F). Maybe it’s the copious amount of salt on the road? Still, it’s enough to coat everything in a blanket of white. The air is a bit misty, but only when looking at things in the distance. I love it when the snow sticks to […]
Continue readingSnow Blankets the Earth
I woke to find the world transformed and everything covered in a fluffy blanket of white. It looked like more than the 3″ we were predicted to get, so I opened the back door to measure. Plunged the ruler in to find roughly 4.5″ of snow. Amazing! This kind of snowfall almost never happens here, so I am delighted.
